What's To Do In Pawleys Island

Pawleys Island Beaches
The Pawleys Island beaches are mostly private and pristine, and renowned for its surf. Within five miles there are approximately ten first-rate golf courses and a large tennis complex. Fishing is available both in the surf and from our two marsh bridges. On the island are several fine launch boat ramps. When parking on the island, all vehicles tires must be parked inside of the white lines.  Many people do not realize that until they see a friendly little envelope on their windshield with a ticket enclosed.  Pawleys is a family beach where you can enjoy crabbing off a crab dock, shelling, biking and canoeing or kayaking. The ambiance is laid back and even keel. Our town speed limit is 25 mph, making it as safe as possible for the many users of the road. During high tide you can explore the salt marsh with your own kayak or rent one.  I would suggest Surf the Earth for all your rental needs.  Many people take advantage of all the fishing spots that we have, actually I call them “honey” spots.  In the past, I have found that it is best to fish right when tide is coming in so be sure to check the tide charts before you load up all the gear.  You can find a lot of fishing supplies right at our Pawleys Island Supplies Store located at the corner of our North Causeway off of Ocean Hwy & Waverly Road.  Also, it you happen to be in town during our 4th of July celebration, be sure NOT to miss our infamous Pawleys Island Parade which starts at 10:00 a.m. and is “on” the island.  It typically starts on one end and travels to the opposite end.  Be sure to wear your 4th of July attire and to bring a chair!

Beach Cruising Bicycle Style

Happy Trails
BIKE THE NECK is a flat paved trail parallels US 17 from Murrell’s Inlet to Sandy Island Road near Huntington Beach State Park. By using sections of completed trail and roads with Share the Road signs, you can ride or walk from Murrell’s Inlet to Pawley’s Island.  All together it is about 6 miles of continuos trails and two other sections of about 4 miles.  It’s basically an adventurous day trip.  Be sure to pack plenty of water and some snacks if you chose to do a round trip!  If you are visiting Pawleys Island and you didn’t bring a bike, there are plenty of places to rent them for reasonable prices.  There is one actually located in our local Pawleys Island Piggly Wiggly center.  If you chose to do it GOOD LUCK and Happy Trails!
Below is a map of the trails:
